A Whimsical Afternoon Tea in Omotesando
Omotesando is known to be like a mini “Beverley Hills.” Lined with brand shops and cute cafes and boutiques in hidden corners. The ladies had to hold back on staying too long as we stopped by second hand vintage luxury bag shops on the way to Harajuku - just a 10 minute walk away.
Theme: Wisteria & Grapes
Food, staff, atmosphere was amazing! Mom and I enjoyed the scones very much.
Next season, it will be peonies and the flavor theme will be peaches!
Mini Photoshoot!
We bumped into Japan’s iconic artists, Minori and Rin!
Rin explains Minori’s solo exhibition work
(June 11-June 14th 12:00-18:00 at Art in Gallery)
The middle daughter was telling me in the car that her dream is to be an artist who can sing, act, dance. All she knows is that she wants to be in the creative industry, but doesn’t know what “her thing” is.
I think stopping by at the gallery was a very special moment for her, and it marks the beginning of becoming a true artist.
Q: Any advice to young artists who are trying to find their “thing?”
Minori: Be different. Don’t do what others are doing. Keep experimenting, and it will naturally come to you.
As a performance artist and content creator myself, I agree!
If I may add, create something that is hard for others to “steal." Art is creative stealing.
I graduated with a BFA in Fiber Arts at UHM, and I have played with a variety of art forms: fiber, wearable fashion, ballet/hip-hop, martial arts, theatre/musicals/choir, digital art, digital photography, song writing etc. You name it, but I still can’t draw.
When I saw Middle Daughter playing and tearing apart her plastic bag throughout the day, it made me very happy.
“Awww, she’s experimenting. She enjoys working with her hands.”
Minori signed her photobook! What a treat!

Fortune telling
Got a burning question? Love? Career? School? Everyone took turns throughout the day hearing their own custom-made message from Japan.
Fortune telling is my favorite activity to do with the guests. It’s an exercise to understand your spiritual self and also gives me a chance to get to know you on a vulnerable level.
Let’s talk about your dreams, who you are as a human, new directions, next chapters, self-growth, health and things to be aware of!

Omakase Sushi for dinner
Be sure to book reservations for dinner-especially on a weekend! Omakase means “Chef’s choice.”
Eldest daughter said she was in the mood for fancy sushi, not the ones on the conveyor belt. With just one call, luckily, I was able to snag the last private room for 6.
The family survived their first full day in Tokyo. By 18:00, everyone was starving. Hopefully, everyone will be able to sleep well tonight despite of jet lag.
Note: Most restaurants won’t allow customers from overseas to book reservations. Please ask your tour guide or hotel concierge.
Special thanks to this legend, who was the main trip coordinator! Best of luck leading the next two weeks!
