This is how I learned English and Japanese as a child. Never in a classroom.

I was never officially taught the Japanese language in school. I learned through lived experiences, TV shows, reading kids books, talking to my family to brush up on my Japanese. But what really did it was, my mom threw me on the plane as a kid so I would spend every summer with grandma while attending a local Japanese elementary school.

I never had a break in school, but that’s ok because it was fun learning through real-life experiences everyday!

I strongly believe reading and talking ALOUD is the best way to learn a language. Our mouth is a muscle after all.

There was a period during college where I didn’t any speak Japanese at all, I felt I lost my speaking confidence and abilities. That’s why I chose to create children’s story books because we all need to start from zero and learn a new language like a baby.

I have a background in art and I love storytelling. I spent 7 years as a social media content creator, and I feel like it’s time for everyone to unplug and return to human-made story books.
