Take home your own forged knife in Asakusa

You can learn how to hammer in 3 years, but to sharpen takes a lifetime.
叩き三年研ぎ一生

This summer in Japan, there will be lots of unpredictable rain and humid days ahead. Stay cool by spending indoors and enriching yourself in Japanese cultural activities. Great for souvenirs!

I took a knife workshop at BUB Activity center in Asakusa. The total duration took about 1.5 hours.

At 11:00, we started from introducing the history. What is the difference between Japanese vs. Western knives? What is the material made out of? What tools do you need to sharpen the knife?
