How to travel with your dad in Japan

Father-Daughter Trip

Day 1 Asakusa

Coming soon!

I, Cyber Bunny, guided the American father-daughter duo for a fun day in Asakusa.

I know as our parents get older, we want to spend as much time with them as we can while they can keep up with us. Nevertheless, while their bank account is still “active.” LOL JK, but seriously though…

Here’s how you AND your dear father can have a great time.

  1. Keep the plan simple

    1. Dads like a plan but wants YOU to guide

    2. They live to serve YOU and make YOU happy

    3. As long as you get to do all the things you want to do, he’s just happy to tag a long and pay for things.

  2. Encourage him to take part in the country’s culture. Dress up with him, he might ACTUALLY LIKE IT!

  3. Dads like to wander and get lost

    1. They tend to observe their surroundings. So they fall behind a lot. Stay with him!

  4. Make sure he wears the right shoes, geta shoes without socks might be too much for him… especially if they are from car culture.

  5. If you are walking 15 minutes to another place, grab a taxi and spend the $5. It’s worth it.

  6. What to eat for lunch? He fancies hole-in-the-wall food places.

    1. A 400 yen ramen at a small hidden shop is better than the viral 1000 yen ramen with a long line.

  7. He likes small bites, so share your street foods with him ok?

    1. Most men don’t have a sweet tooth and prefer to eat protein instead. Worst case scenario, have him try Famichiki at the convenience store (Family Mart).

  8. From working A LOT back home, this is probably his only chance to shop, so be his shopping consultant and tell him he looks good

  9. Allow Dads to channel their inner stud… Everyone were models at one point in their lives.

    1. If you can’t take good aesthetic photos, get someone who knows the angles.

    2. Hire a photographer for a short period or book me if you are okay with these shots:

Good luck! Cherish these precious moments with your Dad. They may be tough on us, and we may snap back, but they are your DAY ONE.

Happy Father’s Day!
